Method

    Flake the drained tuna into a bowl. Add mayonnaise, celery, onion, relish, lemon juice, Dijon, herbs, and pepper.

    Fold gently until combined but not completely smooth. Taste and season with salt only if needed.

    Toast the bread lightly if desired. Add lettuce to protect the bread from moisture, then divide the tuna salad among four slices.
